newbie from Australia
Hi fellow bikers,
I'm a relative newbie to biking who's happy to have found this forum - great threads, good info, cool support (from what I can see in existing threads !!).
Started biking three years ago at the age of 33 (never had a two wheel bike when I was a kid) riding bikepaths and rec parks on a $300 (AUD) Malvern Star hybrid... upgraded last year to a Giant XTC2 LE and going XC. Loving it.
My first bike was a good way of finding out if I enjoyed biking enough to spend more money. It did a great job and survived my initial jump inot the world of xc although the gearing and wieght were absolute killers on a climb. Guess it was good fitness training !
Took a while to adjust to the new bike though, felt like an alien machine compared to my old one even though they look similar to unobservant eye (two wheels front forks gear changes...). Fell off it the first time I tried the bike, just turning the wheel in the carpark under the building I work with !!!
Looking forward to chatting with you about bikes and bits and swapping stories of good rides and funny falls.
keep riding,
bobby
