This year just bought a hybrid bike while will try to cycle to work while at the same time, lose some weight. hope to pick up a few tips as a commuter and keep a lookout of essential urban riding gears and must haves. cheers

Welcome!
For starters commuting it helps to be very vigilant of your surroundings while riding and never to trust that a motorist is aware of you or will give you space. A must-have is a good U-lock for locking up when you park it!
