Hi there,

Thanks for visiting my post!

Much like many folks out there, the cycling buzz came onto me during the beginning of the pandemic. I have always been into riding and working on my bikes as far back as elementary school when I got my first BMX bike. in 2008 the fixie craze came to be about and I used mine for many years as a commuter to and from work, which was about 8 miles round trip at the time. That kept me busy for the following years but after going on longer rides, I decided that having multiple speeds and a freewheel to coast at times would be more enjoyable.

I found a Schwinn Le Tour on craigslist and fell in love with it. The thin tubes, a classic design, and a timeless color were characteristics that all resonated with me. The bike was a bit rusty in some spots so I decided to remove everything, clean it, and put it all together again. It was this bike that got me familiar with components on road bikes. I learned new terminology. It wasn't easy however, and I was eager to learn the vocabulary and understand how everything worked. Years later, the bike rides as smooth as silk and I had in stored away.

It wasn't until my gf out of the blue said to me one day that she wanted to start cycling. I was shocked...in a good way...and immediately went to find her a bike as soon as I could. I ended up finding another Schwinn. This time it was a World Sport with a ladies step through frame. Although it needed some work done to it, I had experience with my Le Tour and was up for the refresh in my memory. A few dollars in parts, a little bit of elbow grease, and the bike was running as good as could be. We went on a handful of rides down the riverbed until we got her dialed in. And once she was set, we went on a long 35 mile ride without any issues. I had a feeling she was outgrowing the bike pretty fast.

My lady is athletic and enjoys fitness activities and one of her goals she set was to ride a century. Although, I knew the Schwinns could manage, I felt that we could enjoy the ride a bit more if we had upgraded our bikes. And so we did. The whole time I was overhauling her World Sport I was itching to get my hands on something faster for myself and started to do more research on high end steel frames and stumbled upon some Columbus tubing and it was all history from there. I found myself a Mondonico SLX frame for myself and a Torelli SL frame for her. Both are equipped with a full campy group and we've been putting in many hours on our saddles.

I hope this story finds you well and there is more to it, but I have to go to work soon and so I need to wrap things up...

I have to make 10 posts before I start sharing any pictures and this only counts as 1. lol

Please feel free to message me any time
