I tried this post including a link to my post "Just Gave Up My Car" and then learned no such luck until I reach 10 posts.

there's a Portland in Maine. im curious how that compares in bike lovers

I can't compare; have only been to Portland OR once for 2 days a few years back. Portland ME, never with biking in mind. There's a nice looking Bike/Walking/Running paved way paralleling 295 on the waterfront, but never been on it. It is a good city for music and food though!
