Bikes: Specialized Allez, CCM Capri

Hello All

Hello, I'll give you guys a little story. I'm Matt from Montreal. I've always loved biking, and I own a 2014 Specialized Allez, and its now Spring in Montreal so Ive been wanting to get back on my bike, but I live in the city now, and sometimes, Id like to take my bike places, but I really dont want to lock it up outside wal mart, or any store, I can see it getting stolen, or broken by some jealous idiot. It got me thinking about getting a little beater bike for short trips around town, something Id have no problem locking up at the bike rack outside. I started looking on marketplace, but where I didnt think to look, my parents shed, haha.
My mom has a 78 or 79 CCM Capri she told me I could take. It seems to be a pretty basic bike, but visually looks nice. So after a quick test drive, I found it to be a bike in pretty good shape, but the rear wheel was kind of bent. I found a good CCM parts bike of the same vintage for 20$, it was a 1979-80 CCM Corsa XL, which donated its rear rim to my bike. From there I was off to the store for some new tires, and after some youtube, I changed the tires, greased up the chain, made some other adjustments, threw a new seat on there. For the maiden voyage, we did about 22km. Not exactly as easy as my Specialized, but it was fun, but those old 10 speeds dont do hills too well. Its all original, and it's going to stay that way. Its given me the bug to play with more vintage bikes. (I love cars to, and love working on those also)
That CCM has its own story. My mom bought a CCM, but it was stolen right after she bought it, so she wrote a letter (in those days) to CCM, and they sent her another bike for free! Companies back then were something else.

I'll post up pictures of it when I can, and I'll start another thread with some questions for my next project bike too.

Thanks for letting me tell my story.
-Matt
