Hello from the UK...

...and Italy when I manage to get back)!

I am a (very average) cyclist and triathlete with a few bikes (Bianchi Aria for road, Bianchi Impulso Comp for gravel, Canyon Speedmax for triathlons). Not too fancy or new, but more than adequate for me :)

I have also developed a deep interest in understanding sweat loss and hydration (I’m very much on the extreme end), but this is for another post.

Happy to be finally officially registered, after reading posts for a very long time!

Welcome Greg, from SE Wisconsin, USA.

What's the photo showing us?

I myself have a big fleet of mostly lower-end bikes, but I like variety, so I can do all types of cycling. This time of year, it's just basic commuting on a disposable bike and riding my eFatty when it's snowy or icy:

Arrived home; only 2 miles. I had better traction with aggressive studded knobbies than the cars.

My favorite commuter is a humble little folder with lots of room for luggage above the wheels.

Thank you Jeremy. That’s amazing! How stable do you feel in that deep snow? That’s hard work, even if it is an eBike!

The photo of my Bianchi Aria was taken in Southern Italy (Le Castella, Calabria). It’s not too far from where I usually spend the summer. To be honest, the ride itself is not that great (big roads and quite a few cars), but I think the destination is worth it

I rode 20 miles yesterday, mostly in snow. In virgin snow with the tires deflated to 5 psi, I feel quite stable.
When I have to ride in foot tracks, it's not quite as stable.
Occasionally, the front tires wanders a bit and washes out a little, but I usually catch it. One gets used to it. You can't fight it, just have to go with it.
It's worth noting that at 8 mph and with all that snow, a fall isn't a big deal.

Here's a post with some more pix and a couple video clips about that ride yesterday:

Welcome to Bike Forums.

Don't sweat the small stuff.

Only mad dogs and Englishmen go out in the noon-day sun.

Italy? Love the memories - haven't physically been there in years, joyously in my mind regularly.

welcome aboard! cool bikes! welcome aboard! cool bikes! When I first joined a cycling forum, I mostly lurked for weeks before posting, but the community ended up helping me choose better gear and routes. Funny enough, my first real discussion online was about trying to reach Cheetos customer service after a damaged box showed up, which somehow turned into a long conversation about snack storage on long rides. Forums are great like that — small topics lead to bigger connections. The UK has some incredible cycling scenery, so you picked a good place to ride.
