G’Day from Oz (Australia)
G'Day all,
I’d like to introduce myself to the forum … I live in a small village in the Southern Highlands of New South Wales called Bundanoon, which is approx. 180Km SW of Sydney. The area is renowned as a great cycling destination, with tree-lined roads and undulating countryside.
I came across the forum in a search for information on a light and thought it was great, so decided to join.
I started riding when I was a young and did my first very disorganised tour with a friend along the Great Ocean Road in Victoria when I was 15. At 18 I gave up cycling when I brought a motorcycle.
In my 40’s I decided I needed to become fitter so purchased a mountain bike and started riding approx 20ks before work, then progressed to commuting to work, a round trip of approx 60Ks. Also started mountain biking on the weekends. Got tired of swapping tyres each week from knobbies to slicks so brought a road bike (Giant CFR1) and joined an informal Sunday bunch made up of pros. ex pros, enthusiasts and just about any other type of cyclist.
The last couple of years I have been studying and thought I didn’t have time for regular cycling, thinking I needed to spend the time doing assignments. As a result I put on heaps of weight and felt depressed. So I’ve decided to get back on my bike to hopefully lose weight, get fitter (again) and just feel better. And it seems to be working! Having bought a new toy has given me motivation as well, a Polar CS200cad, which is a cordless HRM and cycle computer in one package.
I hope to be able to contribute meaningfully to areas of the forum as well as gain new knowledge.
Kind Regards
Ozerider
