Greetings from the Sunshine State (Florida). I just bought a Trek 7.3, which I'm looking forward to logging a lot of miles on. During my research before buying the bike, I stumbled across BikeForums.net via Google, so I thought this would be a great time to join the forum. I also have a Catrike Road recumbent trike, which is a lot of fun to ride. I bought the Trek 7.3 because it is a hybrid bike and I plan to ride mostly on streets around St Petersburg and occassionally hard pack trails around some of our local parks. The recumbent trike is a blast to ride, but I find it a bit scarey to ride on the street, as it sits extremely low to the ground and a car leaving a parking space almost backed over me a couple weeks ago. For safety, I've restricted most of my trike riding to a local rails-to-trails trail, but I'll be on the streets more now that I have a bike. Before buying the 7.3, my LBS guy and I tested to make sure I would be able to put it in the back seat of my Honda Civic Hybrid. It fit with no problem, after taking off the front wheel, so I expect to do a lot of riding right from home as well as taking it to some of the nearby state and county parks. I bought a cheap tarp that I can wrap it up in to protect the inside of the car when transporting it. Why didn't I just buy a bike rack to transport it? Because I got thinking about the fact that I have had more then one accident in which I have been hit from behind. With the bike safely inside the car, I don't have to worry about loosing the bike in addition to the hassle of getting the car fixed if I get rear-ended again. Also, the bike is protected from road dirt and the weather when it is inside the car.
Anyway, that's my introduction. Hello everyone. I'm looking forward to participating with you in this forum.
