Looking for tips

Hi

I'm entering my first bike race this summer and I'm hoping the members of the forum will be able to give me some tips and pointers.

Ride faster than Dave (not hard), watch out for Zack (there's a lot of him) and look in the Road Bike, Training and Nutrition and other forums for more.

Good luck!

Need tips for a race? When you're ready, go ahead and post a description on the race you're going to enter and what goal you have for it. Then, ask for some tips!

Hi guys,

Thanx for the absolute brilliant tips:-)
Thought I'd introduce myself properly.

I use my bike to get absolutely everywhere so I guess I ride around 150K per week. This is the first time biking is going is going to be my main activity, ie have lots of questions.
For the past two weeks I've only been riding my fantastic bike, but normally I also do a bit of running, weight lifting and yoga. This winter I also did some cross country skiing.

The bike in question is a MTB and the race is 190K (Lillehammer-Oslo) I'll post more about the race on one the training and nutrition forum

190K I suggest you ride a lot.

you ride 150k per week and your going to race 190k********** I think you need a bigger base.

The 150k is only back and forth to work, getting about etc. What do you think I should aim for?

Hi Norgie........and welcome.

Norway is a great country to cycle, done two tours there in recent years,of course living near Newcastle is very handy for the Bergen ferry. Where abouts are you located in Norway?

Hi Willic
I'm located in Oslo. Great city for biking.
What kind of tours have you done over here?

Norgie..... I`ve not visited Oslo or southern Norway, I am sure it is a lovely city.

My last trip was a ferry journey to Stavanger, then a 10 day tour the scenic route (Hardanger Fjord) about 500 miles to Bergen.
The final 3 days in Bergen, doing all the touristy things, "Edward Griegs" villa, etc.

A couple of years or so prior to that, a friend and I cycled, trecked, Glacier climbing in the Jotunhiem (sp) and Hurunghan (sp) mountains, for 3 weeks.
Which was brilliant, as we had beautifull weather most of the time.
