Welcome to Bikeforums. I was just in Tokyo earlier this month. Since this is the introduction thread, I might suggest asking your question in the general cycling thread. You will get more responses there.

I think it would be a good idea to bring your bike. As for where to ride in Florida, I think the local riders from Florida can answer your question.

Hold on a minute, I live on Long Island, but I was stationed in Jacksonville Florida when I was in the Navy.

Jacksonville is an excellent place to ride. The land is flat. The only hills are man-made approaches to the bridges, like the Ortega River Bridge.

Consider also that the weather is good, Northern Florida rarely goes below 45 degrees even in february.

While I was in Jacksonville I rode about 65 miles a day, every third day, which is when sailors have "liberty", i.e. a day off.

I mostly rode around west Jacksonville, because there was less traffic. There is more traffic on the east side, mostly on account the Atlantic beaches are popular.

Jax Facts:

Jacksonville is the Westernmost city on the east coast. The Atlantic coast is curved that way.

Jacksonville FL has the largest land area of any city in the US, 758 square miles.
