My girlfriend is looking for a cheaper road bike any suggestions here either? I look forward to talking to you all about this great sport! Thanks for the time all!

There's always one of these for your girlfriend:

Although it may take a few days to read the whole thing .

Welcome to BF!

Yes, I was looking at a denali like that one, but a little different. Would she be able to keep up with me? She just told me she wants a decent bike under 400.00. I want to get her something that will last awhile and do well on longer trips/ 40-60 mile trips. She is a big time runner so her legs can handle a decent bike.

Welcome Gregg,

You don't say what part of MN you are in but the Tour de Tonka will be taking place on Saturday, August 4th beginning in Wayzata, MN at the Deephaven Community Center. See minnetonkacommunityed.org for more ride info. It is a very well organized ride with LOTS of riders... expecting 1500+ this year from what I have heard.

Cheers,

Darin

I'd say so if she is a runner, although cycling uses different muscles. I'm not certain how long it will last--although it will last longer if either of you have any wrenching skills. If you're serious about a decent bike under $400, though--there aren't any really decent road bikes. The only way you can get a decent bike for the amount is if you can find a nice used one. They are out there, it's just a matter of looking.

Have you gone down to a local bike shop to see about sizing for your girlfriend?

I'm from around Duluth, Minnesota. Up in the woods! She is 5'5 so around 52 cm would be right. What you think of these?
