I am one of the co-inventors of Brake Director™ - the patented one-hand Power Braking System for Bicycles. We have been in business since 2003 and sell nationally and internationally, but the hardest market has been Seattle and the surrounding area.

Brake Director™ was orriginally designed for Riders with Limitations, but we have found benefits for all kinds of riders from recreational or returning rider to the child with their first bicycle to the commuter to the sports rider. We even found that there is a real benefit to a mountain bike, a tandem and a recumbent

So the reason I am here is several fold. One is to get the word out. We have done bike forums before. We realize the paradigm of the 2 lever sytem and we are not here to say we are better outright. We say we are a unique alternative to the traditional bicycle braking system.

We have been in talks with REI, the Wounded Warrior Project that sponsors the Soldiers Ride, a series of regional rides across the country and the US Bicycle Polo Association.

But what we really want to do is begin a dialogue with you. We want to listen and learn where there are end users in the area that could use or need this product. We have met with Doctors and Therapists. We have attended the Group Health Seattle International Bicycle Expo for the last 4 years. We have reached out via the Cascade Bicycle Club to a few shops in the area.

Hello brakedirector, it's wonderful to have someone with a different view of cycling join us. I know that I myself could very well benefit from your alternative to traditional brakes, as I have carpal tunnel syndrome in my right hand.

What kind of bike do you personally ride, then? Are you a commuter?

I am located in Kent, and ride the Green River trail, the Interurban, the Cedar River, and Big Soos Creek trails. You can find me out there almost every day (well, if you're up really early in the morning).

I'll be looking for you, if not on the trails, then at the Bike Expo perhaps?

I ride a Bridgestone CB-1. The handlebars are adapted for the limitation of my right arm and the shifters are on the left side operated by my thumb. Lastly I have a foot clip that always comes up at the right angle to slide my foot and secure it to the pedal. I mostly ride trails, getting up to 35 miles per trip abouut twice a week. Right now my car is in the shop and rental cars won't allow a bike rack.

The main reason I am here is to see what people think and if there is a way to reach people like you.

What year is that Bridgestone? If it's old enough to be 'vintage', perhaps you could include photos over at the Classic & Vintage forum?

I happen to think your mission is great! I spent some time in a wheelchair and this gives me a unique viewpoint as to how accommodations for physical issues to assist people into cycling is a great thing! Good to have you here.

Good to hear about. We have been very busy and we are working on a new web site, but we are also preparing for the Grouyp Health Seattle International Bicycle Expo. If you are in the Seattle area March 8-9. 2008, stop on by.

There should be a fair number of us there at the Expo. I'll hope to talk to you there .
