Hi new rider from Ireland
Hi every one, just thought I would say Hello, I have a Trek 7.5 FX and done some touring in Ireland, not 100% sure about the trek & touring, what do you think, is it OK, or should I change for a different bike

I actually think the Trek FX is a pretty good bike for touring. I had a 7500 FX, and it was comfortable, durable, and relatively fast and comfortable. It also handled things like gravel and sand a lot better than the road bikes I ride now, and that seems like a good thing for touring.
The only caveat is what kind of touring you're planning. I think the FX is a great bike for 25-40 mile days. But if you're setting off on an epic self-supported journey across the continent, you would probably be more comfortable in the long term with a touring-specific bike, like the steel-framed Trek touring bike.
By the way, what part of the country are you in? I visit Castlegregory in Kerry quite regularly, as the wife has come into a house there.

thanks for your thread
I am from the north of Ireland, a place called Newry Co Down,
by the way my wife comes from Tralee not far from castlegregry,
I am going to be touring around Ireland within the next two weeks, that is the complete circuit of Ireland, doing maybe 40/50 mile days
