New Thread!!! Pictures!!! New Memeber!!! Warm Welcome!!!
I'm trying to figure a way to get a conversation started here. I posted in BMX-forum and nobody responded except for one guy and all he said was "get a new bike." I just laughed it off and responded nicely hoping to get something going but nothing ever happened. So I'm hoping I can find a place to talk about bikes, learn and have fun. Hopefully some people around here are doing that sort of thing. Here's my bike:
Thanks

Hello x freeride x, the folks at the BMX forum aren't bad once you get used to them, but they are young for the most part.
I can't see the photo (I'm at work), but I think we can talk to you about bikes anyway!
I'm guessing that you do BMX? Street, racing, whathaveyou?
Anyway, Welcome to BF!

Do you know that bikeforums is about bicycles- not motorcycles?
That may be why someone told you to get a new bike.

Yes, I know that. And yeah, I noticed that BMX-forum is mostly really young people which is cool, I just want a place that I can talk about bycicles For the moment I ride street BMX. I'm not a stunter or racer. Just like to ride. I havent ridden in a while though.
And yes, there are motorcycle parts in the picture but only one complete bike and it's a BMX The motorcycle is still together, those are just parts for some mods I'm doing. Here's some pictures of it now:
Sorry, I like to hore those pictures. Oh yeah and East_Hill!!! Thanks for the welcome man!
So do any of you guys ride BMX? I'm also interested in learning about mountain bikes and road bikes like 10 speeds. I took my BMX apart so that I could start fresh, clean it and replace any critical parts. I think I'll replace the sprocket and freewheel but I'm not sure what gearing I need? I need to figure out how to get the sprocket side of my crank out so I can clean everything and re-assemble.

Hey freeride, that's a sweet Yamaha, you'll get a few oohs & ahs if you post it in the foo section. If you have maintenance and build ?'s try the maintenance section & post them clearly on intent.
oh, & welcome.

I don't know if you could say I really ride BMX, but I am always interested in expanding my cycling options! I can do the basic bunnyhop and not much more, but it does make my husband nervous seeing me do even that (although you'd think he'd be used to me doing crazy things by now--he's seen me go down hill on the mountain bike at 30 mph ).
About the only kind of bike I don't think I would do well at would be a unicycle, but I've never tried one, either.
Mountain biking is great fun, but very different from road cycling. A lot of people do just one of the other, but I think that's rather limiting, myself.
What kind of budget have you got in mind for your interests? Both MTB and road bikes can cost thousands of dollars, but if you are good at wrenching (and you must be reasonably competent since you took your BMX apart and are planning on putting it back together) you can pick up a gently used MTB or road bike from the local Craigslist and decide which, if either, you really like. It's cheaper to start off that way, and you can always upgrade when the bug finally bites.
About the gearing on the BMX--would you not replace the sprocket with the same size as you've got on there already? You can try asking about that in the Bicycle Mechanics forum, or the BMX forum (I'd try the mechanics forum first, though ).
[nice rides, by the way! What is the BMX bike--the one in pieces, that is?]

Love the pic! I can see parts from a couple of bicycles, a motorcycle, and some sundry items such a a globe and a fan. I don't know what you are considering building from all that, but it will be one heck of a machine! LOL
Oh yeah ..... welcome to BikeForums!

Haha, thanks everyone. Thanks for the welcome 2wheeled! Right now I'm just wanting to get my BMX going. After that I might try other bikes. I do have an almost new mountain bike already though, I've just never ridden it (my neighbor left it to me when she moved away).
My BMX is an amalgamation, mongoose frame, GT bars, RL Osborne forks, hubs and spokes, Pergrine and RL rims, Odyssey Black Widow 3-piece cranks and a couple of really nice pieces from Walmart i.e. seat (just got it a couple of days ago :-D) and gooseneck that are actually very high quality.
Thanks for the compliments on my Yami 2wheeled, it's my baby. I'll follow your advice for the postings. Thanks!
