Just picked up an '04 specialized elite on saturday. Using it as a commuter and fitness bike (running was starting to get really boring) and I'm going to be riding the thing from coast to coast in the states in about 6 months.

The planning process gets serious next wednesday. We decide if we are going to go east to west or west to east and divide up the trip into 4 legs. Each of us is responsible for getting that leg planned to a T. With all the things we want to see it looks like its going to be 4500 miles all said and done.
Can't wait.

West to east I think would have the wind at your back...but check in with the experts in the Touring forum!
