Hello from Vancouver, BC

Hi everyone! I'm glad I found these forums, they are very active and well-maintained.

I've been fixing bikes since childhood. In recent years I lived in Victoria, where I worked at Fairfield Bicycle Shop. I also set-up North Park Bike Shop for my boss Richard, who then sold it to my good friend Joe, etc...

A few years ago I burnt out fixing bikes and decided to go to school in Vancouver, where I know work as a library clerical. In school I learned a few things about web-design which ultimately inspired me to start making bike repair tutorial videos. I'd love to hear what you all think of them...

I'd like to be as helpful as I can while I'm here... thanks for letting me sign-up!

Alex

Hello Alex, thanks for sharing!

What kind of riding do you do?

Welcome to BF!

When I was younger I did a lot of BMX freestyle riding, but recently I've just been commuting and cycle-touring. A few years back I toured some of the Gulf Islands and from Victoria to Port Renfrew. My favorite part of touring is having my camera tucked away in the handlebar bag...

I may not be the best photographer in the world (self-admission: I am not a very good photographer), but I try not to go anywhere without the camera anymore.

There's almost always something of interest along the road!

Welcome, your knowledge will be greatly appreciated. I lived in White Rock and toured the islands in the early 80s on my Nishiki International which I still have. See you around!

Sorry East Hill, I missed that. I think I've developed mental blindness to signatures... your photos look great, keep it up (my grandpa would love the tractor pics).

I've got one too: https://www.alexramon.com

And thanks skyrider, it's nice to meet you. You still have the Nishiki? From what I recall those had chromoly frames and lasted a long time...

I think your photos are better than mine, although I do try hard! I do love the tractors, the gentleman who owns them has such fun with them.

And you like Nishikis? I have Nishikis!

Check the first eight posts .

Great photos, I love Nishikis. Several years ago I built one out of a beautiful black frame I found in the back of the shop. It had chrome trim and a wicked crest, I wish I could remember the name... it's on the tip of my tongue. Anyways, those bikes are a real treat to work with. You're lucky to have so many!

Nice to meet you Tony. I agree that Victoria is very nice, especially for cycling. Unfortunately I'm stuck in Vancouver right now with all the cars... wish I could be touring with a camera right now too!
