Hi from Sweden!

*waves*

I'm an ex-pat Brit living in Gothenburg Sweden. I've recently rediscovered cycling at a more competitive level after having been a commuter cyclist for many years. These days I'm training for triathlons and longer distance road races at a semi-competitive level.

I ride a Batavus Tech 3 road bike that I bought 2nd hand in lovely condition a year ago. I also have a generic mountainbike that could really do with some front suspension! (Did 2 races on it last year and felt that it would be a *lot* more confortable with suspension ;-) )

These days I'm training at home on an Elite Volare indoor trainer - the long winter nights in Sweden aren't conducive to safe cycling. Though I'm looking to complement the indoor speed and interval sessions with longer distance rides at the weekends. I'm planning to do a 300km "friendly" race this summer - Vättern Runt https://www.cyklavaettern.com/english/ - which takes a course around Sweden's 2nd largest lake. It's a race that has 15,000 competitors each summer! Should be fun.

Dude!

I have a couple of friends living in Gothenburg too. Welcome to our forum!

By the way, what is it with ex-Brits moving to Gothenburg? I've been hearing of this small mass exodus lately....

Umm, that'll probably be the women ;-) The standing joke here is that Swedish women go travelling when they're younger and bring back foreign men as a souvenir :-D

Very true. The Brit guys I know that moved to Gothenburg all moved for the love of a woman.

Should I move out there for a Swedish man too, or does that rule only apply to women?

Yeh! And there will be a few more by the looks of things,as I have just returned from the Metro centre. (Xmas shopping) the place seemed to be full of Swede`s and Norwegians (the Jupiter must have docked this morning).

Welcome to the forums. Where abouts in the U.K. Do you originate from?
