Obsessed with Bike Security

If you go to the Commuters forum, you will see my new thread. Please reply to it. I got my bike stolen at a DART train station. I'm angry. I was just beginning to realize the adventurous possibilities my bike can give me (I am an adventure seeker, but more on that later if you'd like) and then it gets stolen because I had too much faith in bike racks and my cable lock.

I use my bike to go to classes. I use my bike to go to places that are a bit off campus. I use my bike now to take me to the DART station so I can actually go WAY off campus into a whole 'nother city! I don't like to take my bike with me because sometimes I go late at night and I have to take stairs and/or elevators to get back to the main roads. It feels like a hassle and sometimes I feel like someone will want to steal the bike right from under my own two hands! So I'd prefer to lock it up. I want to know it is safe when I lock it up, too.

I have been thinking of putting one of those bikebags on the back of it and have it say "POLICE"

Getting your bike stolen is a drag and downer. Before we were married, my wife had her bike stolen right out of her locked garage in Long Beach. She felt much like you.... kind of took the wind out of her sails. Bike theives are scum.

Good Luck.

Hello Dottywine, you definitely don't want to pretend to be a LEO--that will get you in big trouble! A folding bike might do the trick for you...

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

Hey, I can't find the thread I started anymore. Do you think it was deleted?
