New from New York
Hello. I've been riding an old-school bmx bike for leisure and short commutes around the city. But my buddies would dust me on their gear-equipped bikes. It made me feel bad and I wanted to cry. And cry I did... until I recently bought a lovely 1997 Bianchi Denali. Now I've stopped crying and am looking forward to doing minor upgrades on my new to me bike. Thanks for reading....

Hi kid,
welcome to Bikeforums. If you want to go faster, get slick tires on that bike. There is a book called Effective Cycling.
It helped me a lot dealing with thraffic. If your library doesn't have it, they can get it for you using inter-library loan.
