Hello from Honkers!

Hi everyone!

Jonny in Hong Kong here.

I was sad when I had to sell my bikes to move here for work, but I'm since bought a new bike and have started riding again.

One small problem with Hong Kong (apart from the crazy drivers and pedestrians) is the hills. Very slow going up and very fast going down!

Welcome to the forums Jonny. I could not imagine climbing some of the hills I have seen pictures of in HK.

What kind of bike did you buy?

Bikes: Nishiki Nut! International, Pro, Olympic 12, Sport mixte, and others too numerous to mention.

I understand that slow going up and fast going down thing all too well! I have a bike with 24" wheels which got going so fast downhill that the brakes overheated and melted the rubber on the sidewalls. I was very lucky that day!

Welcome to BF, and feel free to PM me with any questions !

The hills aren't too bad compared to some - but are a lot worse than I'm used to! The seem to run regular double decker bus services on them just fine (despite having to wait behind cyclists on the up hill sections!).

I bought a Cannondale CAAD 9 with Shimano 105/Ultegra. Pretty cheap compared to 'back home' and a nice bike. The guy I ride with spent three times as much by getting a Cannondale System 6 with Ksyrium wheels!
