G'day from Tully FNQ Australia
Hi!
I'm Roger, an active retired Primary School Teacher with 5000k on my MTB and 3000k on my "new" custom Lynxx SWB recumbent. I am non competitive but like most of us I need the exercise so I just rack up the ks at my own pace. I haven't been on the MTB since I bought the bent in April. I'm enjoying the comfort and reduced wind resistance so much that I'm beginning to think I may not get on the MTB again. I live on a coastal plain near the beach with the Great Dividing Range 30k to the west. There are numerous Logging trails to explore through the rainforest and needless to say I nearly wore out my MTB on them. I needed more. The MTB was giving me a sore crutch and numb hands and its carrying capacity was limited so I never did more than a 2 day ride (out, sleep in a Truck or motel, then return)I was inspired to tour after I met a friend who had pedalled unsupported from Cairns to the tip of Cape York (900k) and return through the wilderness in 45 days. He had a trailer and front and back paniers. I borrowed the trailer and tried it out and it worked good for me on my MTB but I still had the ache and pain problem so I did some research and chose the bent and several custom options which make it work very well for me. I now have my own trailer and a complete camping / survival setup which will free me up to do extended tours. I have just completed my first 15 day trip with him to Cooktown return and I am hooked! Stealth Camping! Cheap, adventurous and exciting. I would be interested to find out about other touring setups and discuss problems others have encountered
