hello from san diego

HI
I'm from san diego,
actually moved back from ventura where I lived for 14 years.

Up there did alot of mountain biking-
had a early green/white lugged Bridgestone mb-3 with a judyXC shock that I loved.
Did lotsa ojai and santa barbara trails, some of the best around I think - gridley, little pine etc.
Also did a couple San Diego to Ventura 24-hr rides on that bike.
I was crazy back then!
It got ripped off and bummed me out for a while.

Replaced it with a full-suspension diamond-back (pre-raleigh sell) that was ok but never really liked it.
Went back to a hard-tail when I got my old HK-II back from my brother.
I like to shop around and look at the new bikes,
but nothing has made me want to spend $1k, yet!

Also had a a campi-equipped Torelli that i'd do the 50 mile ojai-santa paula-ventura loop with.
It was nice and light but needed constant tuning and was a bit to big for me,
but got me into liking road bikes.

Now my brother has gotten me into street biking.
His bike is a really nice steelman (sp?) frame cyclocross style.
I was chasing him on the HK-II with slicks but it was tough.

Finally came across an old 70's Campania Professional in my grandfathers shed.
When he was alive, he fixed it up and I never had enough space or desire to take it to ventura,
but just a short ago pulled it out.

It is a pretty neat bike - old chrome lugs
sugino crank, suntour derailers/bar-ends, diacomp center pull brakes, shimano 600 pedals.
Its a tank but with some new 700/35 forte cheapy tires and some handlebar tape the thing rides awesome.
Well the rear tire is a little wobbly but not bad for now.

Yesterday we just rode from Lake Cuyamaca to Point Loma, about 60+ miles.
The bike road like a champ, and we made it in less than 4 hours, with a food stop.

My other bike addiction is old pre-war cruisers.
The focus is Shelby's, not the big-tanked ones but the same frame with the crazy seatpost area.
I have a couple of those in various conditions and years.
Also have a '41 schwinn cycletruck which is the only personally restored bike I've got left.
with the gas crunch maybe it will get some more serious use!

Anyway that's all folks!
