Runner Looking into Cycling.
Hi everybody. I'm a high schooler who's getting close to college and thinking about doing cycling instead of running as a sport for college (should I decide to do a sport at all). I have not had a "real bike" at all, but I'm planning to get a road bike worth about $1200 (US), maybe something like the BF-loved CAAD 9 or a Giant TCR. I think I'll also try commuting by bike once I get a bike, especially since I've received a lot of helpful advice on that from the Commuting forum people.

Welcome to the forums. Take your time deciding on a bike and of course make sure it fits. If you have big hills around your area you may want to think about triple chainrings. My brother had an old fuji road bike and could't make it up this big hill on his commute. He borrowed my hybrid and could take the hill sitting down!

I used to run and enjoyed it. My doctor had told me earlier on , your knees are not made for running. Unfortunately, his advice turned out to be correct. After my right knee gave out, cycling became my new thing... Fortunately, it improved to the point, I can now ride. Welcome. yep.. A benefit of cycling. Vocational cycling. Commuting, touring. Not a choice for runners. A bike will offer you new horizons.

Bike riding is more fun and quicker to get some where compared to running.
Get a used road bike and try it.

Thanks for the welcome guys! And thanks for the friend request, 10 Wheels.
I won't be starting off with a used bike because I need to find out a fit for myself and learn what to look for when I'm buying a used bike. It's simpler to get a new one right now.
