"Newbie" with Questions

Hi, I'm new to the Forum and appreciate what I've seen so far. I'm getting into riding regularly (in San Diego I'm grateful to be able to ride year-round) and have just started building my first project bike. I've got a Giordana XL (excell tubing) Strada that I'm putting a Ultegra group on. As I progress I'm sure I'll be asking questions.
Thanks in advance for your input.

Hi CMC--are you in the military? Are you doing just road cycling, or thinking about doing some commuting in the future?

Welcome to BikeForums .

I'm not military, although at least one of the guys I ride with on lunch rides is. I'm primarily riding on the road, enjoying the Del Mar/La Jolla Coastline. I'm seriously thinking about commuting regularly from points east (and I've done it twice) but it's nearly 30 miles each way so I'll probably need to find a good halfway point to park and ride.

30 miles each way is a loooong bike commute! I do ten miles each way for mine, with some big hills . Sounds lovely to be able to ride along the coastline, too.
