Welcome !! Not a rant at all. The forum(s) have different sections .. forums. It help to organize & archive threads /posts. Many posts arrise at any time. Other not so fresh ones stay in the corresponding forums, they pop -up too.

You'll find your local , regional forum which pertains to a charity event. these events are always discussed, before and after.

Two weeks? How did you get this far into the 21st century without a computer?

What bike do you have?
For the charity ride, just start out slow until you build up your stamina and cycling muscles.
Keep us posted about your progress.
