Hi, my name is Dean this imy first posting although I have used this forum for a couple of years helping me dcide on purchases, sizing, and other matters related to cycling. I am 55 years old and have been road cycling for 33 years. Some years are more serious than others. I had to cut back on running about 4 years ago and have logged 2500-3000 miles a year since then. My current bike is an 09 Specialized Roubaix Expert 54cm. I had a very difficult time deciding this and a Trek Madone 5.2 and went from a 56cm. Cannodale to a 54. I recieved a great deal information from this forum about both matters and am very happy with the decision I made. My girl friend and I are going to France in July to catch a couple legs of the tour and I hope to find some helpful experience on this topic too.

Welcome to Bike Forums, Dean!
It's nice you decided to become a member. Are you going to do any cycling while you're in France?

We do not plan to ride while in France. We want to catch some of the mountain legs of the tour. Our plan is to hike and travel by train.
