Hello ... Seriously Considering Commuting
Hello ... i found this forum thru a google search. I'm not new to forums as i almost always join one for most venture i take on... being paintball, RC cars, playing my bass... etc... there's always a wealth of information on these things.
That being said... i just moved. Im now right at the 10mi mark for my commute to work.
Lucky for me there is a gym i already pay for at work (that i haven't used for some time) with a shower i can utilize. My schedule is very very flexible as well. So if i needed to i could just work from home.
I'm considering this as a way to get some exercise and just plain get outside and do something. I remember cycling with my grandmother when i was a teen (yes she could out ride me any day) i enjoyed it very much ... we'd tackle 20mi rides regularly and ofter 50+. I remember how much fun it was. I liked working on and maintaining our bikes also.
That being said i just want to ride again... even if it's just to work. I miss it.
all this was spurred when i saw someone riding on my commute to work and when i was leaving i saw the same person riding home.... i thought hrrrmm ...
i rode a motorcycle for a while till it broke down... im still have my rain gear and some very nice mesh riding gloves and even my tool kit that won't need much changing to make it suitable for a bicycle....
im rambling now... so hi... ill guess ill go read the commuter part of the board and see wassup

Commuting to work could become the best part of your day. It's habit-forming. Keep in mind that you don't have to take the same route as driving. Enjoy, and welcome.

Do it. You won't regret it. You may end up feeling much better when you get to work, then looking forward to the ride home, often the long way home. Before long you'll look at work as the 8 hours you spend between bike rides.
