Helllo There from Central California
Hi All!
My name is Kim, 44 yo woman, a semi-new cyclist.... I mean most of us cycled as kids. So maybe its better to just say that I have rediscovered cycling and rekindled an old love affair!! I made the difficult decision to divorce my car about 4 weeks ago. So far, so good.
I have been trying to maintain a weekly mileage increase of 10%. As a previous distance runner I know to be careful about building too fast or overtraining. My goal is to complete the 42 mile (roundtrip) trek to work daily or at least several days a week on a regular basis. I am currently using the bus system for a good portion of my ride. I use my bicycle for all my transportation needs. At this time I have an inexpensive (CHEAP) 21 speed Schwinn hybrid I bought at Target a couple years ago. She hasn't let me down yet though. I have added a removable basket and rear rack. Panniers are next. I plan on using this bike for local chore runs and eventually (hopefully within the next 4 to 6 weeks) buy a better bike for my commute and longer rides. Still trying to decide between Road or Hybrid.
Well I guess that's the basics
be seeing you all around!

Hi Kim,
I'm another "retread" rider. Bought myself a 29-inch "comfort" cruiser, about 3 years ago. Been recently acquiring accoutrements for recreational riding, mostly.
Also, as a refugee from your baliwick (Hanford, CA), about 30 years ago, I envy your (relatively) flat terrain. I've got a lot of ups-&-downs, here in "The Palm Springs of The North" (a local businessman actually had the audacity to put up a large sign on the freeway here, in Yakima, WA!).
Best of luck,
Chris
