Hello from NE Oregon

Hello out there
my name is Rick and I am from NE Oregon.just started riding again earlyer this summer.Sorry guys I went to WM and bought the wife and I the 2 cheapest bikes I could find.I believe they were $54.00 each.
Bought helmets and water bottles too.the wife doesn't ride much,i am sorry to say.a mile or two is about it.she just doesn't have any stamina for it.I bought her a new spring seat.it was a lot wider and softer that what came on the bike.( also when I bought the bikes I also got some gel seat covers)
anyway I am trying to prepare for a 22 mile ride.I now have a loop of about 14.I just don't see it happening now.too late in the year.maybe in the spring.
been pretty happy with the bike though.needs some adjust ments but been good so far.nothing worse than a flat tire.
bout it for now

Bikes: 05 Trek 3700

Welcome, I did the same thing earlier this fall. Bought the wife and myself a wm bike. Three weeks later I went out and bought myself a Trek 3700. The wife will ride her wm bike till next year. She will then get herself a bike from LBS. We didn't have any problems with the wm bikes but once you ride a bike from a bike shop, comparing the bikes is like oranges and pumpkins. But glad to have you aboard.

I have heard that alot.especialy since I bought these. At the time I just couldn't justify paying four or five hundred dollars for something that I did not know if we would use or not.I have ridden the fiftyfour dollars worth out of mine.hers is still almost new.she just doesn't have the stamina to ride any distance.a couple of miles tops.I am seriously considering a electric motor for her so she can ride more.
I did buy her a new saddle but we got into an argument about highth and she has not ridden since.at all.I am afraid that I screwd up and she will never get on again.I even put it back to where she wanted it to be originally.
Oh well I will make some small changes to mine and some small upgrades till I can afford a better bike.I am now up to a 14 mile loop.now mind you that is with my 2 yr old on the back.I know some of you don't like that but it is what I have.He love to ride too.if it was up to him that is the only way we would travel.

We once did a poll on BF Net

Practically everyone had or has a Huffy or a Wal Mart bike in their history at some time. It is where a lot of folks start.

Most recently, at age 57, I started with a $15 garage sale 10 speed, then bought what I thought was a really expensive bike - a $300 Specialized Hard Rock Mtn Bike (great bike, by the way). The I bought a $1,600 road bike, and then another road bike!

Your wife may enjoy a bike from a LBS a lot more than her WM bike, as I am sure the WM bike weighs a ton, and likely does not fit too well. My wife loves her Mtn Bike.

So, keep at it and soon, you too will be in debt to the bike companies!

Well the weather is cooling off and it gets dark earlyer now as you all know.my riding is about over except on the weekends now.I am trying to find a bike trainer for the indoors so I can keep goin over the winter.Maybe drive around with the video camra for a while.sounds silly but whatever works.
Actually I am from Irrigon Ore.not to far from Pendleton.(try and find that on a map.)
I am trying to organize a ride from Pendlton to echo on the old road.not much traffic there.20 miles.but that is for this spring.
