Greetings!
Six years ago I had total knee replacement at age 32. I thought cycling would be a good non impact type of cardio and strength workout and started to look into the sport once again. Then three years ago I had testicular cancer and underwent treatment and surgery that has left me with a physical impairment that made me kind of “give up” on being active. Well luckily I have had an attitude change recently and God has blesses me with a wonderful and supportive wife.
My wife and son have heard me talk about my riding days and bought me a bike off of craigslist for father’s day. I returned the favor and bought my wife a bike the following weekend with the little bit of overtime I worked. We have signed up for our first organized ride at the end of July down near Long Beach (we are doing the short 18 mile one)
We went for our first ride together Saturday Eve, did 11 miles on the San Gabriel River Bikeway. We are both super enthused and already making “big plans”. We already went and got catalogs to start looking at the variety and options with road bikes for when we are ready for that purchase, but, for the time being we are both really enjoying our time and adventures on our single speed hybrid type bicycles.
So, hope to see some of you out there, my wife and I are usually on the upper part of the San Gabriel River Bikeway in the evenings. :0)

Welcome to Bike Forums.
Catalogs? Do people still use those?
What bike did your wife get for you? What bike did she get?
