Bike Identification Help

Hi All,

I recently purchased my first road bike for travel within NYC. I bought it used and the prior owner didn't know anything about it except that it had changed hands several times. I tried to figure this out on my own but was not successfull.

I found that the bike looks similar to a 1970-1980 Raleigh, Trek, or Peugeot but I could not find an exact match. The bike has no stickers or labels as they have all been torn off by a prior owner. All that remains is a worn serial number which my best estimation could read as follows: S777DO16 - Not sure on the "S" or the "O".

Please let me know if anyone has any thoughts as to the Make and Year of the bike.

Thanks,

Chase

Howdy and welcome to the forums! Check out the Classic and Vintage section or Bike Mechanic sections for a possible answer to your questions, they will get more traffic there.

Whups, guess i was supposed to introduce myself here. Well I'm a NYC resident who just bought his first single gear road bike, in poor-fair condition, and am just learning about all there is to know about how to fix'her'up. I'm starting with new tires and hopefully some do it myself spoke tuning. Other than that I'm trying to find out what brand bike i bought. Guess I will have to post to the section you suggested. THanks for the warm welcome!
