Hi, From Kansas City!
Hi everyone! I'm 45 and back on a bike after more than 20 years without one, and after a few weeks of lurking here to get some great ideas.
I'm cheap, a clyde (5'11" and 255), and love to tinker, so I picked up an early 90's Gary Fisher Advance on craigslist last week. I'm not sure of the exact year, but it's got Shimano Exage 500LX components, and according to Sheldon Brown's web site, those components were available only for '90 & '91. It needs a chain and middle chainring, but is otherwise in pretty good shape for having most of its original gear.
So far, it's all been good, and my purchase prompted both my wife and MIL to buy new Trek 7100s the next day. Looking forward to sticking around, having some fun, learning how to fix my bike, and maybe losing a couple of pounds.
