Bikes: Trek 7100 Hybrid

Hello from Indiana

Hi my name is Scott and my wife and I just (I mean literally just) got into biking. As we've entered our 50's we decided, mainly due to my health issues and her concerns about getting in shape, to purchase our first bikes, I mean nicer bikes.

Having a co-worker who cycles regularly was as big help as I had many questions. My health issue revolve around my diabetes and both my wife and I have disc issues with our backs so when going to purchase our bikes we wanted something that would not put any strain on our backs and we ended up purchasing Trek 7100 hybrid bikes.

We've had them out a few times and so far I really love the relaxed ride it provides. To be quite honest I was unsure of getting back on a bike (haven't ridden one since my early teen years) but as the saying goes, you never forget...

I look forward to reading and conversing on the forum as I'm sure you all can provide me with great suggestions regarding biking, equipment, trails and what not.

Sincerly,
Scott

Welcome to Bike Forum from Texas.

Bike riding is my diabetic medication.

Many of us 50 plus have found that the forward lean on a road bike is helpful with discs problems.

That's a really cool shot at the speedway. Used to have season tickets to the Nascar Brickyard 400 event there every year.

That's awesome! Ok, no snickering allowed, as I stated in my original comments, we've been on two treks with the bikes around the house so far for a total of 10 miles ... Ok you can snicker a little. Maybe after a little endurance practice I'll get there.....
