Hi from the motorcycle world!
Well, as you can see from my website name, I ride a Harley. I hope I'm 'allowed' to post. There are many similarities. We face the same injuries and deal with the many of the same traffic concerns: visibility, weather concerns, cornering, road surfaces, and above all, inconsiderate cagers who seem to be intent on doing us in.
I saw a documentary on mountain biking the other night and was astounded. I couldn't believe my eyes. You guys are awesome. I'm a fan.

Welcome! Can't say I'm not jealous! I've noticed that motorcyclists take well to cycling (should see some of the motocross guys ride a mountain bike!)...you should give it a try! It'll probably feel crazy lively too, seeing as your typical mountain bike is well under 40 lbs!

I'm not only a cycling fan, but I enjoy the motorcycle as well. Have to admit, it's easier to keep my bicycles going then it is my old motorcycle.
By the way, welcome!

Hi and welcome to the fourm.
I too have a thing for two wheels. My garage is full with 5 bikes and 7 motorcycle.
After riding and racing motocross for 30 years I got hook on riding mountain bike.
I'm not allowed to go to the store without adult supervision anymore.

Thank you all for your nice messages. My son left his Sirrus here...very unlike the Schwinn (sp?) I grew up on! I should learn how to ride it. Riding a motorcycle is fun but no exercise at all. I'm currently nursing a sprained wrist. Got cut off by a motorist. It was my fault, ultimately, but the guy was speeding through and didn't even stop. I got up, looked around and he was long gone! Everytime I ride I learn something new. In this case, never assume anything when you're out in traffic, which I did. Great lesson for me.
Anyhow, I came on this website to learn about sprained wrists and how you guys deal with them. Got my answers. It's been 2 weeks now. Got on my bike yesterday and could only make it around the block 'cuz it was too painful squeezing the clutch. The weather is perfect and I can't ride! I hate this! Guess I'll have to give it another week. Happy riding Everybody!

I know how it feels I got my license suspended now I cant ride for 4 months (sure it was out of my own stupidity). On the bright side I still get to ride on the racetrack and not having a license is what introduced me to cycling so that makes me happy .

Sorry about getting your license suspended...but I guess there's a bright side to everything. Cycling has got to be great exercise. I see bikers ride up hills that I can barely WALK up!
Finally went to get my wrist x-rayed and it turns out I fractured it. Haven't been to the bone doctor yet. I have now been taking short rides...it hurts but I don't care if I end up with a crooked wrist. I cannot let these beautiful days go by w/o riding!
Seems I'm seeing more and more bicyclists...serious ones, 'hunched' over their bikes, wearing biking outfits, totally focused. I never see any fat ones! LOL. I doubt I'd make it around the block. I'm not fat, though I could stand to lose 5 pounds, and I fast walk 3 to 6 miles a day but I know that cycling uses a whole different set of muscles and I know I couldn't make it up the hills around here. I'd have to walk my bike up which would be an embarrassment! Guess I could just avoid the hills. I need to just do it. I'm getting inspired!
