A Texan in London

Hello All,

I moved to London in September from Atlanta. Probably not the best time to arrive here in terms of weather, but the riding is actually very nice outside the city. Hills don't really exist here, so I imagine my first trip back to the Georgia mountains will be interesting. Anyway, grateful to find these forums. I've been lurking for a couple of weeks and I'm looking forward to checking them regularly. I never seem to tire of talking or reading about bikes.

Cheers,

CJ

Welcome to the forums!

Why did you move to London anyway? What's the story?

Any stories you've got on riding in London would be fun to read about when you get the time.

Thanks for the welcome to the forum and the link to veloriders.

My wife and I moved to London for work. It's been an interesting place to ride. The ride locations sound a bit more exotic than they did in Atlanta, but riding from Kingston on Thames to Windsor isn't really that different than the US. I was initially worried about the other side of the road thing, but it's not too hard to figure out. If you've ever seen European Vacation, I've ridden around the roundabout at Parlaiment Square several time thinking of the Big Ben line. It is fun to ride past some of the most famous landmarks in the world. I did get here in time to ride from Oxford to Cambridge in October. Both are amazing. I'm planning a trip to Bath. I've been without the bike, but it looks like an amazing place to ride. The summer should be great. The days are pretty short at the moment. Probably not too different than Chicago, though I think it's warmer here.

Cheers,

CJ

Nice to have you on the forum and welcome to you & your wife to London. I am living in London so if you need any info/help, would be glad to do the needful, just drop me a PM.

The dollar to the £ conversion must have been a big ouch eh...

Thanks for the offer to help. I may take you up on that. Unfortunately my bike was stolen recently. I'm going to the US in March to pick up my new one. The $ to £ thing is the reason for the trip. I could buy two bikes for about the same cost as one here. Fortunately I've got a few other things to handle in Atlanta, so I had to go at some point anyway. Thanks again for the welcome.
