Greetings from Emporia, KS
Greeting Fellow Cyclists,
I'm Bill from Emporia, in east-central Kansas, right on the eastern part of the Flint Hills. We are fortunate to have a pretty nice rail-trail system no too far away from us which makes for some nice trail riding.
My cycling history goes way back; I started serious riding back in the early 70's with a road bike built around a hand-built British frame, the MKM Wes Mason, with full Campy Record group. I did a little club racing and after riding the hell out of hung it up for a few years. I picked up again in the late 80's with a Schwinn Circuit, a pretty nice road bike that I still have. I hung it up again for several years, and now at the age of 57, I'm back into it again.
This time I'm riding a ten year old Trek 4500 Alpha doing trails, gravel roads and some road riding. The bike weighs a ton, but I'm doing 90-100 miles a week and loving it again.
I want to restore my Circuit this winter, and upgrade to a better mountain bike in the spring.
I'm looking forward to getting tips and inspiration from this forum.
Here is a shot of my Trek and one of the rail-trails.
