Returned to biking after 25+ year hiatus
Greetings. I'm a 49 yr old rider who's gotten back into biking after spending 25+ years on the couch. In my teens and 20s I lived on my bike, doing 2-3 day tours, commuting, and mountainbiking around Middle TN. Then I discovered how well beer, pizza, and the couch went together, and I let my bike rust and collect cobwebs.
Fast forward to last fall, when halfway through a major weight loss (150 lbs), I decided to get back into biking as part of my exercise regimen. I bought a new hybrid (Giat Roam XR2) and overhauled my 30 yr old Univega Alpina Ultima and started riding a few times a week. By this summer, I had the bug again, and recently added a road bike to the mix (Giant Defy Composite 0). I'm riding daily now and working up to my first race/organized ride in over 30 years (a 65 mile ride in October).
I can't believe I ever stopped biking.
FWIW, my wife's getting the bug, too, and she's started tagging along a few times a week. She doesn't have te road bike/race bug yet, but it's just a matter of time.
