Rediscovering Biking in OR
Hi there! My name's John, and my family and I recently moved from Arizona to Portland, OR. One of the first things I decided to do when free of the 105+ degree heat of AZ was get a bike. My wife had one, my daughter had one, and now we lived someplace where we could ride without dying from exposure. So I immediately went out and spent too much on an old Peugeot City Express.
I hadn't ridden a bike more than a few times since I was a kid. We got out on one of Portland's many bike trails and I immediately fell in love with it. My son, Dalton, rides behind me in a "copilot" seat (he's 18 months), and my daughter (7 years) and wife are out there too. We ride to the park, or to wherever, and it's an epic fun family affair.
The Peugeot is a little too small for me, I've now learned. ("Whaddya mean bikes have sizes?") That's okay though, because my wife likes it and it fits her perfectly. So she's taking over that one and I'm currently looking for my replacement. This time it'll be the right size and I'll do some research on the bikes I'm considering. Crazy stuff, I know, but I think I'll do it anyway.
Not much else. I'm 43, a stay-at-home dad (loving it even though I think I work harder now than when I was out in the workplace), and building a new life for us up here in the Pacific Northwest. Good times!

Welcome to BF! I think you're going to see a little more rain where you are now than you're accustomed to, but you'll still be able to ride a lot more than in AZ.
