Cannondale ST500 says "Cheers!" from Chicagoland
yes, that's right. I'm currently riding my dad's old 1986 ST500 (upgraded to Shimano 105 drivetrain, crankset). just started riding a few months ago because- a) i'm not getting in better shape by thinking about it, b) i'm not getting any younger [I'm 35 so I know I can't complain too much, still we are all time bound creatures, are we not? ], c) i've been dealing with a chronic foot injury which keeps me from running or playing basketball, etc. just finished my first 500mi this past weekend (yeah!) and have ridden 44 mi at my longest so far. plenty of posts to come as i'm sure the bike doesn't fit me (hand numbness, shoulder tightness), planning on getting a different bike in the fall/winter discount season, would like to get clipless set up asap...etc, etc etc. excited to be here, to learn and share and push myself to better fitness, health and enjoyment of life!!!

Welcome to BF! When you go for that new bike, give some serious thought to getting it from a LBS. If you deal with a decent one, they'll make sure your bike is reasonably well-fitted to you and hopefully eliminate the worst of the symptoms you've described. I think the new model year comes out in the fall, so it might be good if you started your LBS window-shopping and brain-picking right after Labor Day. Good luck with it.
