New Rider from Dallas!
Hey folks! My name is Stephen and I am from the Dallas area. I was surprised yesterday by my wonderful wife because she brought home my first road bike. My doctor has recommended that I lose 150 pounds. As of this morning I am 305lbs, coming down from 325 and 338 at my biggest. Unfortunately, this is not my first time losing weight but I am praying this will be the last. I am changing habits instead of taking pills. I started looking into cycling about 2 months ago because running and walking are killing my back and knees. I went on my first ride yesterday and thoroughly enjoyed it. I only completed about 5 miles, but I am ready for the journey...as soon as my back side feels better! That's my life story.
Looking forward to meeting with you all. Anyone from Dallas?

Welcome Stephen. Good luck on losing weight. Many of us here (including me) were bigger than we wanted to be and cycling has been a tremendous help.

What bike did you get? Got pics?

Nice bike. I wish you success in your journey. I lost weight when I started biking though not as much as you probably want to. My first rides were 5 miles gradually getting longer. Find some other bikers and ride with them. The companions will make it even better.

Welcome to BF! I used to be >290. currently battling w/ 235 and trying to get to >220. Just a personal experience/thought, but... Forget running. I was hurting myself running until the orthopedic surgeons told me to permanently cut it out, take up lap-swimming and get on a bike.
