Hi everyone from Sonoma County CA, Santa Rosa to be exact. New rider here who got on a bike for the first time in something like 38 years 16 days ago. I started a weight loss program (nothing big, eat right, get more exercise) early in September 2013 and wanted to add something on. I was walking 2-3 miles a day (4.2 mph or so when I get going) and even threw in some light jogging.

My wife said let's get bikes so off to our LBS (see I do read things here) to test a few things out. We both came away with a Specialized Expedition Sport, hers the low entry model and mine the regular model. I really like it so far, more than I thought and have put in over 150 miles so far. I've learned here that I am to be called a Clydesdale being 5'11 and 238lbs. I was 250 back in August so things are going right. I really like it so far, more than I thought and have put in over 150 miles so far according to Map My Ride. Going to take some time to lose the weight and gain some lung capacity as I've led a sedentary lifestyle and quit smoking about 16 months ago. Even little hills kill me!

So nice to meet everyone, I've got alot to learn.

Hi back from Healdsburg. Welcome aboard! Sounds like you're doing great, and got yourselves some perfect bikes for the job.
Oh and when you get to 50 posts, go ahead and drop me a private message if you want to go for a slow or whatever tempo ride some time.

Welcome to BF and enjoy the new bikes! Spend some time in the Clyde/Athena forum -- a lot of kindred spirits and stories there...

Thanks for the welcome. I was just in Healdsburg last weekend showing my wife the Dry Creek route. She will need some time to build up to those hills. Stopped by the bike shop there too and picked up a few things.
