Another Southern Californian
Just found this forum. Dug around for about an hour and decided to join in. Lots of good information here.
I've Been riding off and on for about 15 years. New York native (born and raised in Poughkeepsie, College in West Virginia. Art School in Pittsburgh, Settled on Long Island (Sound Beach) for 5 years before moving to California, and working as an advertising art director.
Try to get in 20-30 miles per day, 40 - 50 miles on weekends. I don't need to dress like an italiano or own an expensive bike. I get along just fine with a 3 year old Specialized Allez with off the shelf parts.
I'm also very involved with rowing and sailing.

I hear they have a Shields Fleet there...
