Welcome to BF! The area where you presently live is a lot better for cycling than where you used to live---the odds of survival are a lot higher. Enjoy it!

Philly is trying to be bike friendly. They've come a long way since I lived there! The goal is to ride the East Coast Greenway September with some friends.

Hi Marge. There are plenty of "tricks of the trade" for cycling long distances. If you do not already have experienced mentors, then there are a number of books about long distance cycling - preparation, nutrition and everything else that applies. https://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...stance+cycling I have the one by Burke and Pavelka, which I have found very helpful but I'm sure the other books listed are also good. Good luck.

Thanks Berner. I will look into that. I've been reading lots of blogs and watching YouTube. I picked the east coast for my first journey because I'm from there and know lots of people who live up and down the coast. So there will be lots of stops along the way. Woo hoo!

Hi Large, I live on the Greenway up in Maine and I sure hope it all gets linked up for everybody on the east coast! Oh, and if you see Pee-Wee's bicycle, could you please let him know?
