Hi Everyone I'm a complete n00b

Hi everyone.

I just bought my first road bike today.

My usual recreational exercise was basketball, but due too many ankle rolls and long recovery time I thought I would try something new.

Sorry for the long story.

I was shopping around online for a few weeks and today I decided to go get my bike. Since I am new to the sport I thought maybe I shouldn't spend so much right away, so I tired an aluminum bike (Trek) and the ride was harsh. I immediately decided I did not want an aluminum frame. Unfortunately, the shop didn't have any carbon framed bikes in my size. My second and third shop did not have any road bikes in stock so it did me no good. I decided to drive 40 miles out and found a shop that had a lot of options in stock. I tried a few Specialized bikes and a Cannondale Supersix 105 C. They were much more comfortable. I decided to go with the Cannondale but the size I tried was not "exactly"my size. I was going narrow down the Specialized bikes I tried but my friend wanted me to meet him at another shop near by. This shop had Felt and Giant. I tried the Giant Defy Composite 2 and it was really nice. Then the sales guy asked me to try the TRC composite 2 and I liked it more. It felt more responsive, so I decided to go with that.

Hi GripR,

Trying several bikes in person is the best way to shop. Welcome to Bikeforums.
