Hello - New Milwaukee person checking in

Hello everyone. I'm a 29 year old from MIlwaukee. I got back into biking last August, early enough to do a few 80 mile rides and get a thousand miles in before putting the bike away for the year. I plan to do quite a bit more biking this year, so I thought I'd join and get other people's advice instead of trying to figure everything out myself.

I ride a hybrid Giant Cypress and just bought clipless pedals and some cycling shoes, so I'm anxious to be able to hit the streets again.

Most of my riding is done on the Oak Leaf Trail, but I'm planning a few trips this year, like Milwaukee to Madison and back (80 miles each way) and Milwaukee to Chicago and back (probably 90 miles each direction).

Anyway, I'll surely be around, asking stupid questions.

Hello all. Tim from Madison. Just got into cycling last summer. Been doing a lot of the city bike paths here and some of the lighter trails. I did a 30 mile trail up north last year on an old railroad bed and man was it fantastic. The Oak Leaf trail in MIlw is pretty nice except for all of the power cables you have to ride under--hope your brain is still in one piece.

My brain's mostly still functional. Hopefully when I make it out to Madison I'll still have a little energy left over to check out some of the paths there (and then still make it back the next day).

Hey govegan,
I am also a fairly new rider in the MKE area. I started out last summer as well. I rode last year about 1000 miles on a Raleigh Hybrid, but over the winter I bought a road bike. I have been out a few times through the winter and now this spring. Have you tried the Ozaukee Interurban Trail up in OZ county? Thats a really nice trail, all multi-use, and a lot smoother than some portions of the Oak Leaf. Anyway, I will probably see you on the trails.

I moved to Racine last fall, and I have not yet been on any long rides around this area. Hope to meet up with some of you at some point.

Not a mt biker but if I understand correctly there are some Mt trails on or around crystal ridge ski hill on 76th and Rawson.

The John Muir and Emma Carlin trails are my favorite in the immediate area. Located in the southern kettle moraine, maybe a 45 min drive from the eastside.
