Another Geezer, Back on a Bicycle...
Found this forum, and looking forward to reading, learning and asking a few questions...
67 yo RetiredBum, in decent shape, but needed something to keep me humping here in our 5 month long Winter hideout.
7 months a year I hump up our mountain in western NC every morning, but these SW FL flats don't give the same workout; so a new Trek 7.2 it was.
Have had it a week, and have cranked off 60 miles so far, with a daily late afternoon ride.
From Detroit orginally, got transferred to NYC in the mid '70s and never looked back. Travelled half the world for 25 yrs, worked hard, got lucky and bailed early in 2000. Built a home on a 5,000 ft mountain ridge in western NC, and moved there just after 9-11.
Spend winters in SW FL at our winter shack, chasing the ball and dodging winter mountain weather.
Have been riding motorcycles since I was 16, (still ride 3 scoots regularly), drive my VetteVert, chase the ball, garden, read, self invested, and work on staying retired. The last bicycle I had was a Schwinn Super Sport, circa 1972... I had forgotten how much fun it is to ride manually, vs 75 hp under my fanny.
Some cursory reading of this forum shows me some knowledgeable and caring people. Glad to be here!
Best Regards, Ol'UncleMotor
