IKEA trailer purchase
Figured this would be a better place to post than the general forum.

So how do you like it? When I saw a write-up of the trailer and bike Ikea are now selling, I wasn't terribly impressed with what I saw of either, but it's difficult to tell from a marketing photo how well something is designed and made. Put it through its paces and let us know how it fares.

I have had it out a couple of times and I liked it. I don't have much axp with trailers but I road across town 4.5 miles with a 60 lb load and by the time I reached my destination I had a pretty good handle on towing it. Unloaded it is supposed to weigh 24 lbs. Really its almost unnoticeable. With the music gear on it I was surprised how much lower a gear I needed to take off. Of course once you get going its fine. I did notice on my return trip (unloaded) when I made a quick uturn on a busy road, the trailer slid behind me but I think the spring in the hitch just overpowered the tires ability to hold the road.
The trailer is very solid and easy to put together. The payload limit is 108 lbs and it feels like it would do it no problem.

I recently bought a suitcase trailer similar to the Bike Friday one, but less costly. However I will need some adapters, as my bike suitcase is a tad too wide, but slightly wedge shaped, so it will fit if I raise it on 1" rubber spacers. Since it arrived in November as the weather was turning, I lost interest - I will finish it up in the spring and start a new thread then. My plan is to mount a laundry basket or something similar on it, when I am not using it with the suitcase, to ferry my dog to parks and such. I could use her enclosed crate, but she might like more of a view.
Meanwhile I hope to hear more about people's experience with trailers.

52ri telecaster
50s telecaster with actual 63 esquire neck.
Several guitars of lesser value that fill niches on gigs.
63 fender tremolux amp and cab cause its cool and old
15 watt vox night rain and speaker I built cause it actually works great for every gig.
Too much **** in my house.

I teach and play guitar for some of my income. So I do have some useful stuff musically but most of it isn't real valuable.

I had a look at some of the Sladda stuff that showed up at my local IKEA in Sweden a couple weeks ago when I bought a nice vanity and sink for my bathroom. I was pretty focused on my goal, so didn't dilly-dally too much.
If I had been in the market for a city-type helmet, I would have bought the one they offer. I may pick up a helmet anyhow to keep at my desk at work. The panniers also seemed nice and inexpensive.
The bike had some features that I like. I did like the front disk brake and the threadless headset, which are somewhat uncommon on city bikes here. Though I have a city bike with a rear coaster brake that I use without trouble, and admit that it's probably fine or even preferable in for the general population here, I really don't care for them. I have no idea why they'd go with the 2-speed hub compared to the 3-speed Shimano variants that are so common here.
I'll consider the trailer, too, for sure. The only thing I really would use it for is, perhaps, trips to IKEA, though.
Ironically, the Sladda line doesn't seem to be on the Swedish website, but is on the American one.
