Sick and have to catch ride in a car

I don't know what in the world has hit me like a ton of bricks; I haven't been able to keep anything down not even water. I walked a block to the convenient store only to find myself getting dizzy and hurling the water I just drank. I had to get the roommate to take me to the store to get some sports drink in his car, and just about past out again and more hurling. If I can’t continue to hold anything down I need to go to the doctor and mom said she will take me to the doctor tomorrow if needed. So bummed, there is no way I am taking a bus with my stomach so uneasy I can already picture that scenario. I can hardly walk from one room to the next without feeling dizzy.

Sorry to hear this. Many people cite this very situation as the reason why they can't go car-free. But we don't live in a car-free vacuum. That is what friends, taxi's, or ambulances are for.

I think if I were as sick as you describe I'd head to the emergency room. Have you at least checked in with the doc**********

Try to get some fluids in you - don't want your electrolytes to get all out of whack and result in further complications. Have you eaten something funky? Maybe its food poisoning.

Good luck, hope you feel better. Nothing like mom or dad coming to the rescue.

No but I did do a crazy amount of riding in the rain sunday around 6 hours, constaly breathing in road spray. Last night I had a tv dinner, which could also have been the culprit. So far I drank some cytomax, to see if would hold down better the juice, gatorade or water. So far it's been two hours and no trip to the bathroom which seems hopeful, though still runnung a fever. Maybe try some soup in a little bit.

Ya - I just read your other post. If you aren't having any trouble breathing, not coughing, etc I'd dismiss the road spray as I would think that would affect the lungs not the stomach. My money is on the TV dinner. Sometimes those things are allowed to thaw out and spoil, then refrozen and sold anyway.

P.S., I bet you were already pretty dehydrated from your ride. The rain may have masked just how much you were sweating. Then this thing piles on.

If it is food poisoning the good thing is that it goes as quickly as it comes on.

I am holding out pretty good right now, I am voting bad tv dinner - it was a real crappy brand at that.
I hoping I am in the clear.

Throw your TV dinner at your car!

I hope you feel better, but this is no situation for a car: A sick person, dizzy, and vomiting.

Well then, since you failed so miserably I guess we'll just have to strip you of the coveted 'carfree' status and downgrade you to the lesser 'car-lite' category, don't push it or we'll throw you out alltogether..... just kidding

Don't worry about the car thing, what's the big deal? you need a ride, you get a ride, just look after yourself and get better. Okay?

This is true, I was thinking about that earlier. I have got a lot of my energy back and able to hold food and water down, finally feeling better. Might not need to go to the doctor tomorrow, just a killer headache and tired now.

If it only lasted 24 to 48 hours it might have been a Norovirus. Especially if other people in your area had it. If so, it probably was from contact with a sick person and not food-borne, although a lot of times it's picked up in a restaturant. Your doctor couldn't have helped much if that's what it was.

That sounds like what I had, pretty much back to normal, went to the grocery store via bike today. Taking another day off from work just to be on the safe side, plus I don't want to put anybody else through that.

If it was Norovirus, you can be contagious for another 3 to 7 days after you get over it. Be careful if you cook for others, or better yet, get them to cook for you.

We had two outbreaks at work. I was one of the lucky few who didn't get sick. I wondered if all the exercise I get strengthens my immune system. Also, I washed my hands a lot. But probably it was mostly luck!
