the light turns green as a bus approaches the intersection (let's say, as soon as the bus hits the prior corner the signal for the intersecting traffic turns yellow).
I've heard that a lot of cities in the USA already have traffic lights that respond to approaching ambulances

my town has not only lights that respond to ambulances (there's a strobe receptor on top of the light) but also red-light cameras. I set them off pretty routinely at 6am when crossing the empty street against the light!

But since you don't have a license plate on your bike they can't catch you! But the legality of the red light cameras is in dispute and they might not be around much longer.

actually i think most of the cops in this town would probably recognize me - i ride past their station around shift-change time & see a lot of them on the road. I gotta stick out as the only cyclist helmeted, lighted, & going fast they ever see
