Another source of car-free people....
Here's a program to get poor farmworkers bicycle transportation. Some of us would disagree about the bikes representing fewer options, but the towns in Florida are spread out. Seville is near a large fern growing area near Deland. Immokalee and Belle Glade are in the south where they grow winter vegetables and sugar cane.
"It's a solution for farmworkers who can't afford a car, and for anti-immigrant laws that prohibit driver's licenses for undocumented workers," Garzon said.
"We are against car culture, so it's great to fix the bikes up for people who don't even have the privilege to say 'we don't want to drive,' " she said.

Interesting article...and I think they are doing a great service. Around the people unable to get licenses just drive anyway A day doesn't go by where someone isn't hurt or killed by an unlicensed driver. To be fair not all of them are immigrants quite a few are people driving on revoked or suspended.

When I lived in the Coachella Valley there were quite a few workers on their bicycles. I discovered that they are the ultimate Freds.
Kitted up in their work clothes on Xmart or used bikes they can go much faster when pressed than you might expect. Never underestimate them.
